I’m James Robinson, the face (and the camera) behind Adept Imagery. I’m a multi-award-winning documentary wedding photographer with a knack for spotting the in-between moments - the hand squeezes, the belly laughs, the nerves before the aisle — and weaving them together into a story you’ll actually want to look back on.
My approach is simple: I don’t stage your day, I document it. I’ll be there from morning prep to dancefloor carnage, usually 12–15 hours, because your wedding doesn’t end with the first dance. I’m not the sort to bark orders or turn your drinks reception into a military drill (Even though I served 12 years in the British Army, Leaving with a conduct record of 'Exemplary'), I keep it relaxed and a fun.
I’m also professionally qualified, holding Licentiate status with both the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) and the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP). These aren’t just fancy acronyms to throw around, they’re recognition from two of the most respected photographic bodies in the UK that my work meets a consistently high standard of creativity, technical ability, and professionalism.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to be recognised with awards like the Hitched Wedding Awards, Best of Bridebook, and even a nod from the Wedding Industry Awards. But the real reward? Couples telling me they felt like they were reliving their day when they saw their gallery.
If you’re after stiff poses and fake smiles, I’m probably not your guy. But if you want your wedding photographed with heart, humour, and a touch of artistry, that’s where I shine.
Typical Clients
My typical clients are couples who want their wedding captured honestly — no stiff poses, no endless staged group shots, just the real laughter, tears, chaos and joy of the day. They’re usually laid-back, fun-loving, and value photography that tells a story rather than just ticking boxes. If you care more about dancing with your mates than posing for hours, we’ll get along just fine.

The service James provided was great, he is very laid back and lets you take the lead. At times where we were being laid back, we let James take the lead and he was great.
