Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern – A Proper Pub, On The Move!

Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern is a characterful converted horsebox mobile bar, bringing the atmosphere of a proper pub directly to weddings, private parties, festivals, markets, corporate events and celebrations.

Our rustic travelling tavern comes complete with draught taps serving chilled beer and cider, alongside wines, spirits, mixed drinks, Aperol Spritz, soft drinks and freshly made hot and iced coffees. We can tailor the drinks offering to suit your event, including non-alcoholic options.

Based in Berkshire and happy to travel for the right event, Bilbo’s is designed to be much more than simply somewhere to buy a drink. With its rustic timber bar, festoon lighting and distinctive pub-style appearance, the horsebox creates a real focal point and adds something memorable to an event.

We hold a Personal Licence and Public Liability Insurance and can arrange the appropriate Temporary Event Notice where required.

Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern was born from a love of proper pubs, great hospitality and a slightly mad idea to put the two on wheels!

After several years running pubs and working in hospitality, I wanted to create something of my own that captured everything I love about a great pub, but could travel to weddings, festivals, parties and events across the country.

I bought an old horsebox and, with a lot of hard work (and plenty of help!), transformed it into Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern – complete with a traditional wooden bar, draught beer and cider taps, festoon lighting and all the character of a little country pub.

The Tavern is named after my little dog, Bilbo, who has been there throughout the whole journey and naturally considers himself Head of Operations.

My aim is simple: to bring the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of a proper pub to wherever the party happens to be.

Although Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern is a new venture, it’s backed by several years of hands-on experience in the pub and hospitality industry.

I previously owned and operated pubs for several years, giving me experience across everything from busy bar service and events to cellar management, stock control, customer service and the day-to-day running of a licensed premises.

Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern brings that experience into a completely new setting – taking everything I loved about running a proper pub and putting it on wheels!

We’re fully insured, I hold a Personal Licence, and the Tavern is equipped to provide a professional bar service at events of all shapes and sizes.

We cater for a wide variety of events, from weddings, birthdays and private parties to festivals, markets, country shows, community events and corporate functions.

Bilbo’s is particularly suited to clients looking for something a little different from a traditional mobile bar. The converted horsebox creates a distinctive feature at an event while still offering the feel and drinks selection of a proper pub.

We’re happy to work with both private clients and event organisers and can tailor our drinks offering to suit the occasion, from a full licensed bar with draught beer and cider, wines and spirits, through to coffee, soft drinks and alcohol-free options.

I hold a Personal Licence for the sale of alcohol and Bilbo’s Travelling Tavern is fully covered by Public Liability Insurance.

The business is registered as a food business and operates with appropriate food hygiene and safety procedures in place.

Temporary Event Notices (TENs) can be arranged where required, allowing us to provide a fully licensed bar service at suitable events.

We can provide event organisers with copies of our relevant licences, insurance and compliance documentation upon request.
