Our Story
I am very passionate about food and cooking. I love exploring ingredients and creating the perfect dish. I have been cooking for over 30 years, but not on a commercial basis. Food brings communities and families together, and I usually donate food to community events and family gatherings.
I have worked for the NHS, Local Authorities and the Voluntary Sector as a Project Coordinator/Manager for more than three decades. I took early retirement during the Covid 19 pandemic to travel and do what I love most - cooking.
During the Covid 19 Pandemic, I cooked and donated 4,000 meals to The Spring Community Hub. This was to support children from deprived communities in the London Borough of Southwark.
There are two elements of my business:
1. Food Prep and Frozen Food
Saffie’s Kitchen was born from a mother’s love. It started with a simple desire to make sure my son could still enjoy nourishing, home-cooked meals even when he was miles away from London. When he worked in Hull, Yorkshire, I would plan and cook his weekly meals, carefully selecting quality ingredients and preparing each dish with care. I portioned the meals, blast-chilled them, packed them in insulated boxes with dry ice, and sent them off by Royal Mail for next-day delivery. Every week, he would call me, excited to tell me which meals he’d shared with colleagues, a little taste of home, travelling across the country. That joy, that connection, and the comfort of homemade food is the heart of Saffie’s Kitchen.
2. Event Catering:
Apart from my cooking skills, I have valuable transferable skills acquired from being a project manager, such as; excellent time management, people management, organisational skills, impactful communication skills and nice but very assertive
