Solitary Bee Coffee

We are a mobile coffee specialist based in Brighton & Hove. We genuinely love bringing our amazing coffee to guests at any location in Sussex & the South East.  We have 4 diverse coffee vans, which means we can service any event, large or small, with many happy clients including: Wakehurst Kew, The National Trust, Deloitte, Travel Places, Oxford International School, Shambala Festival & Elderflower Fields Festival.

We use only the best Sussex produce possible, sourced from local suppliers. Our coffee is roasted especially for us by our friends at Tiger Moth in Lewes, our pastries & cakes are from Coburn & Baker bakery, & teas from Brighton based Hoogly.

We also offer a selection of fresh shakes, smoothies, granola pots, juices & toasties

Sustainability is incredibly important to us and we endeavour to minimise our environmental impact as much as possible. All our coffee and food waste is collected by The Compost Club, we now only use fully recycle-able, plastic free cups and we work with Magpie partnership to recycle everything else.

We donate to The Natural Bee Keeping Trust and The Bee Sanctuary of Ireland​

Kris began his career in hospitality, like many, whilst travelling around SE Asia. Running out of cash and heading to Hong Kong to seek work. He got a job as a waiter and ended up calling the island home for almost a decade. During this period, he worked in some of Hong Kong’s most celebrated establishments, progressing to bartender, bar-manager, sommelier, restaurant manager and, eventually GM.

In late 2003 he decided the time was right to head home to London after being offered the opportunity to help a friend set up a gastro-pub in West London.

Although the scene in London was exciting & dynamic Kris had always dreamt of living by the sea, so in 2007 he moved, with his young family to Brighton. Soon after, he fulfilled another dream, and began studying for a degree in Wine Production at Plumpton college.

After graduation, he opened the flagship site for Small Batch Coffee Roasters and went on to become Operations Director for the fast expanding group for the following 7 years, over-seeing the opening of 8 sites & a new roastery/cafe.

Kris founded Solitary Bee Coffee to bring genuinely outstanding specialty coffee to events across the South East, with a belief that great coffee is a highlight at any gathering. Our name and our values are rooted in a love of the natural world, and we donate to the Natural Bee Keeping Trust and the Bee Sanctuary of Ireland as part of our commitment to sustainability.

As well as earning an FdSC in Viticulture & Oenology from Plumpton College & a WSET Advanced Diploma, Kris has won many awards during his management of sites in both Hong Kong and the UK including: Michelin Bib Gourmand, AA Rosettes, HK Restaurant of the Year & Hong Kong’s Best Cocktail Bar & HK & Macau Barista Championship Winner.

We have been fortunate enough to serve our amazing coffee for Weddings, food festivals, birthday parties, corporate events, music festivals, farmers markets & sporting events.
