Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I have been planning bespoke weddings and events for decades. I love what I do and I love to make people happy. My Merriment Atelier journey started a few months after I got redundant because of the pandemic from the job I loved.
One of my favourite shows is Shark Tank, I am an entrepreneur myself, so I enjoyed watching other people’s business ideas and success stories. In one of the episodes, a team pitched a paint & sip business. This immediately grabbed my attention because I had never heard of this kind of event before.
I absolutely fell in love with the idea of events where you can paint and sip a glass of wine and have a great time. I shared the idea with my sister, Nicolette. She is incredibly talented with painting and crafts, so I thought she would be the best person to help me in this journey. She warmly hugs the idea and voilà: “Merriment Atelier” was born.
