Smoke Catering are a family run catering company who provide a range of traditional, smokey flavours throughout Bristol and beyond. Utilising a 12ft Texan smoker, Smoke Catering are specialists in BBQ flavours such as brisket, pork, sausages, turkey, and ribs. With everything cooked on oak, ash, and fruit wood logs and the staff all trained in Texas, it's a truly authentic BBQ experience suitable for any event of any size.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to be able to provide the most detailed quotes we need to first know the event date to make sure we're available! We need to know the number of people and I would say the style as we don't fit every mould!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would think about the type of event you're wanting to hold, whether it be informal or more structured. A lot of caterers, especially the quirkier ones, wont be able to do a plated 3 course meal so it's worth thinking about that. I would also ask about quality & how much is homemade/bought in - it's worth paying a little extra for good quality ingredients and well made dishes, as it can make such a difference! Thirdly, I would think about access, again, with the more unusual set ups (trailers/vans etc) as you may find they can't fit into smaller spaces

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started Smoke Catering after having kid #1 and realising that if we both went back to our full time hotel management jobs we'd not have any time as a family, so that was the real driving force. Oh, and being able to make something for ourselves! We're both ambitious so we love being able to put our energy into our own business which we've created.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

There have been a few!! We did a really fun private party for a family near Ross On Wye - they were hosting their company's annual party on their land and they had tents, fireworks, and a really cool bar. It was like a mini festival and the guests were all so nice (including their Labradors) and the view was to die for! We had a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend it!
