What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

It all comes down to who, what, where and when! We need to know how many we are catering for and the type of audience. We also need to know what the event is so that we can provide you with accurate menu options. As we're a mobile caterer, it's important that we know where it is as we have to calculate travel costs as well as extra time for staff. The date is key as we obviously book up early and need to be able to check the dates. It would also be great to know when you would like the food served so we can plan the day.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would check the provider's website as a key reference. Also, by googling them and then looking for images, you can get a really good idea of the company. Facebook is a great reference tool and should also be used. The final reference check should be to contact previous customers.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Our company came to fruition from a love of good quality food cooked well. There are too many event caterers serving food with a lot of preservatives and questionable provenance. We wanted to provide a healthy, more ethical option and have a good time while we're doing it! This lead to more bookings and we now focus mainly on private events.

Our experience of Add to Event has been positive. We've managed to have some great conversations with a lot of people and book events through the website. Clients have a lot of choice so when they pick you it is important to do your best and offer the best service possible.
