What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to give an accurate quote we need to know how many guests, where, what kind of service is required (buffet self-served, buffet staffed, sit down meal, street food.) if the client has a set budget sometimes it helps to know that too, and most importantly what choice of meals.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask about the cooking methods, Jamaican food is tasty but requires certain methods to get the right taste and texture. If you having jerk make sure it is cooked on a drum as using a gas BBQ or the oven doesn't do the dish justice. Jamaican food is known for being spicy but you can still get all the flavour and enjoyment from the dish without torching your taste buds, so if you want the chilli mild your service provider should be able to do that without compromising on the flavours.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
My passion has always been food, I studied it from high school to uni and it's at the forefront of what I want to do. My parents are Jamaican and I have been back and forth to the island from a very young age and have watched and picked up tips on how to prepare the food. Being able to share my skills and put a smile on someone's face because of something I prepared for them to eat is very rewarding for me.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have not been a member long but in that short space of time, I have managed to book some events. My favourite would have to be the photoshoot for Foot Asylum. The day was a fun day, the staff and artists where very engaging and we felt like part of the team for the day. Add to Event has allowed me to get connected to organisations and people I wouldn't regularly meet and allows me to showcase my food to various palettes
