What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to provide a comprehensive quote I would require a few basic bits of information. The number of guests, date of the event, the type of event they are looking to host/wanting to host, and details of the food required. Likes/dislikes, dietary requirements, hot or cold.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the provider about the product they are offering, I wouldn't want my hair cut by someone who didn't know much about hair so why eat food from someone who knows little about the food they are offering. Ask the provider about their menu and why they are serving what they are serving. After all, we are caterers so that should be our main goal.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Carrie Shay Catering started as an idea following being offered a chef position within a Michelin star kitchen. I felt that I had worked within kitchens and establishments that had provided me with enough knowledge to go at it alone, with the food my passion and the customer my focus.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

My favourite booking so far has been catering a private function for fifteen friends that had come together from all over the U.K. and wanted to be catered for as part of their Christmas celebrations. I prepped, cooked, served and cleaned up and left them to the rest of their evening. Add to Event is still growing, and I do my part to promote the platform.
