What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote, a clear understanding of the organizer's expectations is vital. Firstly, the vital bits of information need to be known. this includes the event date, event start and finishes time, event venue and accessibility, expected number of guests and any required extras (bubble machine, UV lights, disco ball e.t.c). Once this information is received, appropriate estimates can be made about the required effort and equipment which forms the basis for the quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The first thing I would expect the customer to do before making the final decision is to break the ice!!! And I don't mean the one that is going to keep the drinks cool but actually speaking to the provider to understand the personality. Being a DJ is a client-facing job and you want your DJ to be approachable and able to communicate with you and potentially your guests. One the communication link has been formed, you can then be sure that all your ideas will be adequately understood by the provider.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I first started as a bedroom DJ in my student dormitory. In between studying i would try to mix different sounds together to form a rhythm that was pleasant enough to listen to. it wasn't great at first but having an ear for music due to my growing up in the church choir, I was able to discern what was wrong about my mixing and with practice, I was able to fine-tune my mixes while applying a few tricks I learnt from youtube tutorials.

What started on my study table became the main attraction for kitchen parties and eventually playing at the biggest nightclub in the city. Although I work full time now I still carry on with the passion which is rooted in my love for music and bringing out the joy in people.
