What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and a potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable package for the client's needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, give the provider as much information as possible as to what it is you are needing, that way a good provider can easily assess if they are right for you. From personal experience, the more information I receive, the more I know if I can cater to you as the customer and how best to tailor my services to your needs and requirements. Also, feel free to ask what the provider can do for you, the more information you give each other, the more of an informed choice you have.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I've grown up around music, cabaret shows and theatre. I started out working on Holiday Parks and Hotels, then from DJing as a hobby, took the plunge, and went self-employed. I've taken Freedom Discos, Sound and Lighting from strength to strength and in addition to being a mobile disco business, have delved into doing technical work for various well-known acts and tribute acts and bands.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

It's been an amazing career so far. In recent years it's been a bit of a whirlwind. As well as being a DJ, I now also work as a Stage Manager, Compere, Entertainer and Sound and Lighting Technician, often multi-tasking and having to do most of these jobs all at once. I even turned my hand to acting, by appearing in Pantomime. I've DJed in the presents of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, run sound and lighting and been stage manager for the likes of comedians Jason Manford and Omid Djalili, Singer Joe McElderry, Madness frontman, Suggs, and Music Producer, Pete Waterman.
I've received a fair few jobs already from Add to Event and would definitely recommend them not only to promote businesses but a good way for customers to find suppliers.
