On the Hoof Bar and Kitchen provides a beautifully converted horsebox streetfood kitchen plus a large trailer BBQ serving Barista coffee, delicious lamb kebabs, steak, falafels and locally sourced burgers plus bar for any event or party in Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To allow us to provide a comprehensive quote to a prospective client we need the planned date, what the event is, likely number of guests and location plus whether it is inside or outside. It really helps to know what food they have in mind and their realistic budget. With all this information we can use our experience to put together a realistic quote for the client.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the potential provider what their offerings are and why and how they are providing it. Ask about the equipment they use for food and drink. Ask if they use compostable/recyclable consumables. Check reviews from previous clients.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

On the Hoof Bar and Kitchen was conceived after a long career in IT. With a lifelong love of cooking and providing a lovely eating/social experience for family & friends I decided to embrace this for the next stage of my career. I decided on specialising on Moroccan/Mediterranean style lamb, chicken, halloumi & falafel kebabs and have also added in quality bacon cheeseburgers with the meat sourced from my local butcher. We also wanted to offer a drinks service catering for both quality Barista coffee plus a mobile bar offering so a personal alcohol licence was gained to allow this. We can now offer a quirky and beautiful bar and coffee service and smaller cooking option via our converted horsebox or a much larger cooked offering via our large trailer based BBQ.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We catered for a corporate event on a cold and wet January evening with our BBQ outside the bar. The clients thought we did a fantastic job and the great comments about the quality of the food were great to receive. They loved our setup and have recommended us to the entire corporate group for future events. I tell many other suppliers about Add to Event and will continue to do so.
