Time & Plaice serve traditional British fish and chips for your private parties, corporate events, and weddings.
They are a Doncaster-based company but are happy to travel as far as you need them to!

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally, we need the event date (so that we can make sure we have it free in our busy diary), to know a little bit about what type of event they are holding, how many guests there will be (roughly!), where the event will be held and whether it is an indoor or an outdoor event. When we receive all of this information, we can then use our expertise and experience to put together a suitable quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider about the service they are offering and what experience they have in their industry! If you are looking for the perfect caterer for your event, you want to know that they have extensive knowledge in their industry, you wouldn't want fish and chips from someone who doesn't know what they are doing are what they are offering! Ask them about their menu and why are they serving what they are serving, is it sustainable and locally sourced? Also find out about their equipment as the better the equipment or the better their unit the better tasting and more efficient their service is going to be.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Time & Plaice was born in lockdown. We have owned our usual fish and chip shops for over 17 years and when lockdown hit, we wanted a way to expand our business and still give our regular customers the best service they can get, so why not take it to their doorstep? We have a passion for providing the best service for our customers and we absolutely love to see the smiles on people's faces as we serve them the nation's favourite dish, fish and chips! We wanted to create a mobile service that has customer focus at its core.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We would always recommend using Add to Event to all of our catering friends!! We recently did a birthday party at which we served 100 people. We had so many lovely comments and reviews on our food, and we would not have been able to have given this service without Add to Event. We now have received future bookings just through the one booking that we got through Add to Event, so it is worth its weight in gold for sure! We do our part to promote the platform as much as we can.
