Situated in the heart of Suffolk, The JR Food Company is a small family business that offers pulled pork, Mexican cuisine and other delicious food from their trailer. They cater for parties, weddings, corporate events and any event that needs to offer high quality, unique food.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We need to know the date of the event, how many guests there will be and what kind of food they are looking for. We always aim to be flexible to fit in with the customer's requirements and we rarely find we can't find a solution. The more detail customers can provide about what they want, the better our quote can be.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Definitely look for someone who is willing to discuss your requirements and make sure that you are happy with the final arrangements. It is important that you, as a customer, feel happy with all the details. For that, you need a company that is keen to listen and work with you to make your event perfect. We at The JR Food Company always strive to do that, and customers seem very appreciative.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The JR Food Company is based on a passion for food and a personal love of street food. I have always found it exciting to find food that is not in a fancy restaurant (with the associated high price!), but is still something really special. That is what we aim to provide at The JR Food Company at every event we attend. We taste our food, we refine recipes, we listen to feedback to make sure we are producing really good quality food. I personally am not satisfied until I know we are doing that.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
The Add to Event site is a great platform for both customers and businesses. As a business, I know exactly where I am with bookings, and I can contact the customer very easily to discuss requirements and confirm details. I do in fact highly recommend the site to friends (customers and businesses) very often. Our best event, although not the biggest, was providing pulled pork and chicken rolls for a barn dance. The event had already been postponed a week because of the awful winter weather, and the weather was still a challenge when the event did take place. However, we love a challenge and we fed all the hungry barn dancers and received many positive comments in return. We have a few leads for future events from those customers and we are looking to work with them in the future as well (hopefully minus the snow!)
