What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate, comprehensive quote, we need the customer to advise us of the full event details (date, venue, number of guests, etc) and the available space. For certain activities such as the mobile climbing tower, access arrangements are also important - and we would always liaise with a customer to check that we can physically access the site with our equipment. Finally, we can decide on a payment option, and put together a quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We would always advise any customer to check that any activity supplier uses instructors with appropriate qualifications. These can be internal qualifications, but national qualifications (e.g. Archery GB, BMC, etc) will give that extra peace of mind. If you're planning to get suppliers to work with children, then picking a supplier with DBS checked instructors will help meet the requirements of your own safeguarding policies - and always check that the supplier has their own safeguarding procedures in place.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Mobile Adventures UK was born from our existing local activity company in the South West and has allowed us to spread our adventurous activities throughout England and Wales. We were routinely getting requests for our existing activities to be made available further afield, but this didn't fit well within our existing business plan. Thus we decided to launch Mobile Adventures UK to allow us to expand further afield.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We haven't yet had a booking through Add to Event as our new business. However, having used Add to Event with our existing business in the South West, we have met some amazing people and attended some incredible events. One of the best had to be a family who had booked a house in Devon for a family party and wanted us to bring our mobile archery range along. Myself and my colleague were made to feel incredibly welcome, kept well fed with coffee and samosas, and had great fun teaching archery to a really lovely family group. The positive review received at the end of the day went on to help us get further customers.
