What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The following pieces of information are extremely helpful in enabling me to give an accurate quote, and to forward to you event appropriate details of the services I provide. This saves you time from corresponding to and fro to clarify certain points. The date, time, duration, venue (or approximate location), reason for or type of event, numbers attending and whether it is an adult, children or multi-generation family event. The last point is extremely important as I can then share with you my experience with similar events.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The role of a magician at an event, is to enhance the overall experience of the party for those attending. An appropriate style and delivery of entertainment is extremely important. Has the magician posted video footage of his work on his website and other platforms? Can he point you to similar events he has worked at and are you able to find testimonials posted by his clients on various search engines? Also, how is the experience of the pre-booking correspondence? Do you receive quick and detailed responses to your questions? Care and attention to these details indicates a pride in all areas the business has, including most importantly, the entertainment.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

When my children were small I reignited my own childhood hobby of conjuring and the performing arts. Within a year of holding down a regular job and performing magic at weekends I decided to take the plunge and perform full time. That was over 20 years ago, and the satisfaction I feel from helping events be successful never fades. 80% of my engagements are repeat bookings, referrals or because I was seen by an event attendee. Building relationships with my customers whether they be private, corporate or venues has been integral to the growth of my business. Magic is so flexible, and is the perfect fit for so many events.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I remember one event in particular - it was a wedding in Hampshire and the wedding breakfast was held in the garden. All generations were present and the clients review stated that nobody wanted me to leave at the end. I love entertaining at weddings, as all generations are present and everyone attending is always in great spirits and determined to celebrate and to have a good time.
