What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to provide a comprehensive quote we need to know the event date, location, hours of serving, number of guests, structure the event is being held in (tipi, marquee, hall etc), reception, table & toast drink preferences, specific drinks required, guest paying bar, some drinks free or free bar. The list is fairly comprehensive but in order to get things 100%, we're usually asked many questions and we do the same!
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, check exactly what they are offering and what experience they have running a bar in your structure. A wedding bar in a tipi for example will require additional planning and it's easy for mistakes to be made. What equipment will they bring and is it safe & PAT tested? Are they flexible and able to
modify their fixed bar menu to suit you? More importantly, what are their bar prices and what draught beers can they offer?
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Cestrian Bars evolved after running bars for many years from double decker buses. I realised that there was a big gap with what other companies were offering. Generally, they offered what they wanted to offer and not what the customer wanted. We always sit down with customers well in advance of their event and talk through exactly what is expected of us by them and agree what we will provide. We always look at how we would be like to be treated and what we'd be happy paying behind a bar. As a result the bar prices are sensible and many guests book us for their own weddings & events at a later date.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Where to start! We've run many events originating from Add to Event and every one has always been different. One memorable one was in a tipi on a huge estate. The daughter of the landowner was getting married and it was a very extravagant affair. Horse drawn coaches, fireworks, unlimited drinks & the most amazing catering. It was completely over the top for a tipi wedding but fun nevertheless. We always tell hosts to plan for rain and if it doesn't, it's a bonus. They covered all options and despite heavy downpours, they had a plan in place. The sun eventually came out and both plan A & B were used. Thanks to Add to Event and referrals from guests, we're usually booked far in advance.
