What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a very competitive quote, I'd need the date of the event, how many hours are required, the type of music required, the venue where the event is due to take place. Finally the type of event, for example, a wedding or birthday party. I would then ensure I can provide for the event with the equipment I have available, factor in any additional costs associated then provide the client with my quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask plenty of questions! don't be afraid to do so I will always answer any questions or queries that my clients have.

Ask about PAT Tested equipment and Public Liability Insurance, that supplier may be the cheapest but if they don't have these your venue could refuse to let them provide for your event, leaving you with no entertainment, not good!

Finally, if a supplier seems too cheap to be true, they probably are! They may use bad quality music that has been illegally sourced, not have PAT testing or PLI, use low-grade equipment or maybe not turn up at all. You wouldn't want that on your wedding day!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Deck C Discos was founded in Surrey in 2010 born out of my love of music and from possessing vast musical knowledge. Originally called DJ Decks Mobile Discos Surrey And Hampshire. I provided for a vast range of events and even worked for the British army! Those cadets knew how to party!

My number one priority was and still is Quality! I will only use the highest quality music, sound and lighting systems. I cannot stand messy wires or bad sound. I relocated to Lowestoft in late 2018 and decided to rebrand to an easily recognised and remembered name in late 2019. Thus Deck C Discos was born! Same high-quality service, new name.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I received an email about Add to Event and originally ignored it (sorry!) as I thought it was yet another useless agency. How wrong was I! Registration was easy and the platform is super quick and easy to navigate. I was struggling to find work through my traditional avenues but since joining Add to Event there have been new clients looking for my services every day!
