What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide a comprehensive quote, we would require basic information relating to the event. This would include: the event date, approximate time, location/venue, number of guests, age-range and type of event. Moreover, it would be very useful to know an approximate budget in order to gauge which of our packages may fit best or at least be close to their budget. It is important to be clear on what service/s you are interested in.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It is most important to be very clear on what product or service you are interested in. You can always ask for information and a quotation for a range of similar products and services to compare against what you are interested in. I believe that choosing a supplier who has been recommended and is local to the venue is very important. Suppliers who know the area, venue and other suppliers, are generally the best choice and most reliable. Always check if the supplier has all the relevant up to date working documentation, such as Public Liability Insurance and PAT certificate for electrical safety.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Spotlight Events was formed by my passion for providing fun, interactive and engaging entertainment to all types of events. I was brought up in a family of entertainers and have been around events all of my life. Having started out as an Entertainment Agency supplying hire services for events, I decided to create my very own event hire business which initially started with providing Chocolate Fountains, Candy Floss, Pop Corn and Sweet Carts. This increased to providing Fun Casino entertainment and then Photobooths as they started to become very popular for all events. I even bought a London Taxi Photo Booth which was one of my most popular hire services for many years. With the need to continue to keep up to date with the latest craze, I now have a number of Selfie Magic Mirrors, which are proving to be extremely popular and are my personal favourites.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have been very fortunate to have been booked to provide our services for some exceptionally lovely events, most of which have been weddings and parties. We were very honoured to be chosen to provide our magic mirror for the official Leeds Pride Pre-Party Event, where we had an absolutely fab time with our Magic Mirror.
