What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a quote, firstly we need to know what sort of service you are looking for. We can provide everything from a pizza bar, where guests help themselves to freshly cooked pizza slices, to canapés and three course wood fired meals served to tables. We also need to know the number of guests you are looking to cater for, where the party is taking place, the approximate timings for the day and most importantly of all, the date you are holding your event as we do get booked up at least 6 months in advance.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, I would ask them what experience they have of catering the sort of event you are putting on and if they have any recent testimonials or customer reviews of previous similar events they have catered at. I would also ask which local authority they are registered with so I could check their food hygiene rating online and also check they have the relevant insurance and risk assessment documents to trade - this is important as most venues will ask to see these documents when using outside caterers. Last but not least, if you haven't tried their food yet, ask if they offer menu tastings or if there any events they will be trading at where you can go and see them in action!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Proper Pizza Co started back in 2008 when I bought my first wood fired oven. I had it set up in my back garden and used to invite my friends over for pizza parties. One of my friends said the pizzas were so good I should set up somewhere and sell my pizzas and the idea born. I started out with at a local pub on a Sunday evening and very soon after that one of my regulars asked if I would consider catering his wedding and I it was then that I realised the potential to cater for all sorts of private as well as public events​. To date we have catered over 250 weddings and private events as well as attended festivals, fetes, fairs and fun days throughout East Anglia and the rest of the UK. At the core, we all just love pizza!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have only just signed up with the service and have already had 1 confirmed booking. This has not yet taken place so I am very excited for it.
