Based in Cwmbran in Torfaen, Wales, the Welsh Italian Pizza Co. is a mobile pizza caterer that provides service for Newport, Cardiff, Torfaen, Monmouthshire and the Vale of Glamorgan. They cater for weddings, birthday parties and corporate functions.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive and competitive quote for a pizza van to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and a venue. From this, we can give a more tailored quote to meet with the customers expectations.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The only advice I can offer, would be to look at what level of service is on offer to you. Will it meet with your expectations? Ask questions of the pizza caterer. Some examples would be regarding the menu, what dietary issues they can or cannot cater for, what their set up is and how is the food served.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Welsh Italian Pizza co. came about as a change of direction/lifestyle. A love of baking and fine foods, and searching for the right balance were also key factors. I have always been focused in any line of work I've been involved in. The blend of baking in a wood-fired oven, family life and loving what I do made making delicious authentic Italian pizza an obvious choice.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I think it's best to talk about the most recent job as the old saying goes "you're only as good as your last job". It was a wedding for a gorgeous young couple in a setting that was simply picturesque. Serving up pizza for just shy of 100 guests for the wedding breakfast, to catering the evening party with pulled pork rolls with crispy crackling. In a nut shell, "what a day". This is why we do what we do. The proof is in the eating as they say and they certainly knew their food! The feedback on the day and since has been wonderful. As a caterer, there is nothing more satisfying than being told how well you did. But, the overall joy we take is seeing everybody enjoying themselves in what for most of us is one of the biggest events in our lives.
