What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, potential venue, how many staff they require, start time, number of hours the staff are required and the job roles of the staff. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put forward the most appropriate staff.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the provider about the experience of the staff they are suggesting. It shouldn't be just about the price on which you make your selection of a supplier. Pick up the phone and call the office. If there is just a voicemail recording, that should raise alarm bells. A reputable company will have someone that you can talk to and will be able to give you an emergency out of hours contact number. You don't want to be left without staff at your event and not able to speak to the supplier to instruct them to get additional staff to you.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Ngage was started in 2006 as a Promotional Staffing business, but we were soon requested to supply service staff for events. This led to rapid expansion and we now have 4,500 staff throughout the UK with a particular focus on Waiters, Bar staff, promotional staff, hostesses, actors and presenters.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

What an amazing way to link to event organisers! There have been lots of bookings through this platform and it's an excellent way of linking suppliers and event organisers. If I had to pick one memorable booking, it would be our bar staff supporting a birthday party in the Surrey Hills in a wood where we were required to serve guests from a VW camper that had 6 bar taps down the side. It was the perfect event. We served over 200 guests. The reviews were amazing. The client and her guests were very happy and are using us again for their next event. I recommend Add to Event to all my catering friends, as well as anyone who does something that is relevant to the hospitality and events sector.
