What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event - there would need to be easy access and enough space for our converted pony trailer to serve out of for instance! From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable quotation and look to work together on possible menu choices.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Things to consider when selecting the perfect food vendor for your event are the things that make that food vendor stand out from the others in the crowded marketplace. After all, presumably you want the food and the experience at your special event to be memorable. Do they use any award-winning or locally-sourced foods? Can they cater to dietary requirements and allergens? Can they personalise the menu to suit your special day? What is their setup - are they serving out of a gazebo or do they have their own branded trailer? Is the style of food they serve going to please the majority of our event's guests? Do they provide vegetarian/ vegan options? Have they got the experience of catering at similar style events before?
We would be happy to answer any and all of these questions and other street food caterers should too.
Finally, checking out social media feeds like Instagram can give you a good idea of the types of food and events they have experience in, as well as customer feedback.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Toastie Club was formed in 2017, borne out of an idea 3 friends had whilst spending another evening stuffing our faces down at our local street food market, Bustler in Derby.
Toasties weren’t the original plan, in fact, we went through a whole list before settling on that bad boy. Not to mention 3,564 toasties. But us girls, loving our feel-good food and particularly our cheese (one of us even has experience as a cheesemonger!), and loving the flexibility the option of toasties gave us - the fact that one food type can produce both savoury and sweet meals, meat and veggie - led to The Toastie Club being born. There are not many people that can turn down the delights of a gooey cheese toastie!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
All our bookings through Add to Event have been memorable, although all for very different reasons that it would be impossible to choose a favourite. From the most beautiful of outdoor weddings to 90s rave parties where we are serving from dusk to dawn, no two events are the same in our local area and that's why we love it!
We have used the platform since starting out, as it just made finding potential opportunities so much easier, faster and stress-free. So much so that we have already recommended the platform to others who have signed up as a result.
