Rooted Vegan Kitchen specialise in offering nourishing yet delicious plant-based foods as well as catering for those who have specialist dietary requirements (gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, onion/garlic free etc). They specialise in World Foods however because of their background and heritage they love to offer a variety of Middle-Eastern dishes.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The top information needed is whether they are looking for a vegan caterer. Some requests come in and simply within the dietary requirements field mention 'vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free' without saying specifically if they want a 100% vegan menu offering. As this is what we ONLY offer, it is of no use to us to receive requests for hog roasts, BBQs, meat buffets etc.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Skills in the area of specific catering (i.e. nut allergy, dairy intolerance, gluten intolerance) etc.
Capacity to cater for event (if fully serviced, fully staffed)
Knowledge of the food they are offering.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Rooted Vegan Kitchen started off originally as a vegetarian cafe and evolved into offering vegan and raw foods specialising in being able to offer gluten-free options as well as catering to those with specific allergens (i.e. nut-free, dairy-free etc).
Throughout the years, we have grown from just offering delicious foods catered to the Vegan market but also have re-educated ourselves and now being able to offer foods that are nutritionally balanced and tailored to our client's needs.
Now Rooted Vegan Kitchen, with all the skills mentioned above, cater specifically for Retreats and Weddings as well as Corporate customers that want to offer their clients, customers, employees, family & friends something a little different with all the FULL flavour!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I recently catered a buffet for 150 people for a charity event through Add to Event. Although only ONE of the guests was vegan, they decided to go offer a full vegan menu and they were not disappointed (please see review)!
We pride ourselves on working closely with our customers to ensure we understand what their requirements are and work towards a menu that is tailored to them. We will also work on prices and towards a goal to suit their needs and budget.
