What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For a live band, it's useful to know as much about the venue we'll be playing at as possible. Knowing details like location, whether we're playing inside out outdoors, if there's a stage, what time you'd like us to start and whether there's a curfew, all make planning your event easier.
Do you have any song requests? Some bands will learn your favourite songs as part of the package but it's worth asking if this is extra. If it's a wedding, you'll probably want the band to learn the first dance, so the more time you give them the better.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Venues often require your band to have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment so it's worth asking your prospective band if they have these. It's also worth finding out if they have their own PA equipment, sometimes this has to be hired separately.
Bands take up lots of space. A four-piece band with a drummer typically need 4 metres square to perform in. You should have this in mind when choosing your venue. Lighting and DJ services are not necessarily included so you should always check.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Playing an instrument is fun but there comes a point where you want those hours of practice to lead to something. There's something magical about getting together with your friends and creating music. If your hobby can pay for itself then so much the better.
Live music can turn an average gathering into an epic event that you and your friends and family will always remember. We think that live music should be affordable and stress-free so you can get on with enjoying your special occasion. That's what we aim to deliver. If you're having fun, so are we.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Our first booking through Add to Event was a party at Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield. Having the client details and requirements presented to you makes it easy to provide an accurate quote and means we don't have to ask for booking forms to be filled out. It really simplifies the whole process. The gig was a great success and our clients were delighted with the performance.
