What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for me to quote an exact price for your event, there are a few details I must have. First & foremost, I'd need to know the date, start time & duration of your event. It is also important to state the occasion & expected number of guests. Secondly, I'd need to know the full name & address of the venue and whether or not the function room is at ground level. Last but not least, I would need to know your preferred genre(s) of music.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The most important advice I'd give to anyone looking to use any service or business is to check their website. Is the website user-friendly & well-constructed? Is it transparent with full contact details? Attention to detail will tell you lots about the provider & so a clean & professional online presence will usually translate to a reliable & professional offline service. Another important piece of advice would be knowing whether or not the provider has full insurance. This not only protects you & your guests but it is increasingly becoming mandatory at venues - especially at council halls & community centres. My third piece of advice would be how the provider interacts with you. Do they respond to any questions, emails or messages in a timely manner? Are they polite? Do they seem passionate in what they do? Someone who enjoys their work will always strive to go above & beyond for their customers.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I was a teenager when house music took over all the clubs in the UK. My passion began then & it went from strength to strength. I loved seeing happy people - young & some not-so-young all dancing & having fun. I started to DJ in the 90s, initially for friends and the feedback was very positive & encouraging. Fast forward 30 odd years & my passion remains as strong as it did in the beginning. I have spent most of my working life being self-employed & because of this, I know the importance of reliability, transparency & professionalism. I always endeavour to see things from a customer perspective and apply that knowledge to how I run my business. My goal going forward is to continue offering a professional service with fair & reasonable prices. Seeing happy customers & smiling faces makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I haven't been on Add To Event for very long but soon after joining, it wasn't long before the leads started coming in. My 1st job was memorable to say the least! The booking was made & confirmed by a mother - on behalf of her son who wanted to organise a birthday party for his girlfriend. On the day of the event & just a couple of hours before I was due to set off, I received an email from the son who requested many songs from a genre of music which is far from my speciality! He said he wanted this genre to be the theme. Needless to say, I spent the next couple of hours frantically getting all the tracks he requested... and many more to boot. The night went incredibly well with the customer & all guests having a great time. I also received a handsome tip - along with a glowing review on Google. I have other bookings in the pipeline & my business is once again gathering momentum after the difficult circumstances of the last couple of years. I highly recommend Add To Event because apart from being reasonably priced, the platform is also easy to use. As a small business, I am always going out of my way to find more customers & with Add To Event, I'm finding that potential customers are coming to me. That's certainly refreshing & very satisfying!
