What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to whip you up the perfect party plan quote it's helpful to know the following information; the date and location of the party; whether you intend for the party to be indoors or outdoors; how many children will be attending; what ages the children will be; who the party is for and how old are they turning; any games or must have party activities that are firm favourites to be included and lastly if you have booked any other form of entertainment to run alongside an entertainer, for example a bouncy castle or face painter.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You will want to know how long the entertainer has been entertaining for and that they have suitable experience in controlling kids, otherwise you may have chaos on your hands. Of course the art of a good entertainer is not to control the kids but to merely entertain them and then the kids are naturally eating out of the palm of their hand! It's good to also know what style of entertaining they offer; Is it more of a 'sit-down' show or is it immersive creative role-play amidst games etc. How much time will the kids be up and on their feet for. You may also want to ask if the entertainer will use a microphone; some kids don't appreciate the booming tones of a microphone being used; and I think it's far more personal and on the same level as the kids if a microphone is not used.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I worked as an entertainer for 6 years for other companies before taking the plunge and setting up Cheekies. It was a great move and came about because enough people told me I ought to! I finally got to do things my way and go the extra mile with the smaller touches that the larger companies I worked for simply didn't include. It's a total joy to see kids getting invested in the imaginary world of a character and play.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had a few years off as I have been filling my time with my own kids, but upon returning to the field it's quite clear that Add to Event is the way that most of my parties are coming to me now. Once upon a time it was Netmums that was helping me get bookings, now it's hands down Add to Event. I would and do recommend this service to others. It's great having all the people in your catchment area post their needs and if I am free I get right back to them to move the process along. As for successful parties... they all are! Post-party, when you get that "thank you, you were amazing" email coming through, a certain glow fills your heart. Onwards we go....
