What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote for a customer, we need the date, times and venue location and if it is up or downstairs. It helps to know size of the venue and what equipment you need me to bring. Themed weddings and corporate events can take a little more planning. An idea of budget would be good - if someone is on a tight budget, there is a market for that - or if you want something a little better then it would be good if there was an indication of what you are expecting.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't just go with the cheapest quote. Find out what equipment they use, ask for a little video clip or something promotional if they have it and book something good. Some do know how to get the party started - a good DJ is one who involves himself, gets the party going and plays the right music at the right time. Ensure it has all of your requests/playlists, especially if it is a wedding or a corporate event - your friends and family or clients deserve a good night.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started singing in a boy-girl duo years ago and steadily upgraded my equipment over many years to provide different services. I sing, DJ and run a karaoke separately or a combination of all three. I have every song known to mankind and have done hundreds of different events throughout the years. I suppose I am more suited to the mid sized or larger venues now - hotels and such, though I like the intimate settings too. I love singing and entertaining and making people enjoy themselves to the max. If I am doing a karaoke, I can make people CDs of themselves singing if they want a keepsake. Personally, I love to talk to the room, have a laugh and get the crowd involved. I think it's great to be able to make money enjoying myself just being me. I love to party with a crowd and be a part of it myself!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I recently did a corporate event and a surprise birthday party with a 80's - Tom Cruise cocktail theme night. There was a free bar with free food, and a singer and me - what's not to like! I DJ'd, sang and did a little bit of karaoke. I met such lovely people and played all of their requests. I even got them all partying hard and it was a lovely memorable evening, where I met some new contacts! I also got offered more work from that event.
It made me feel good to get some nice compliments during the show. Personally I would recommend this site to anyone in the hospitality sector and I hope to work with it for years to come.
