What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we need the event date and rough timings, together with the location and type of space available, as Daisy needs to be parked on private land with space for people to be able to see the van. It is also useful to know the occasion or type of event and number of guests to be catered for. If it is to be a pre-paid event or one where guests pay on the day, where we will ask for a refundable deposit, assuming a minimum amount of takings.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I think it's important to understand the difference between a modern and vintage ice cream van, and the type of ice cream served. We serve hand-scooped Marshfield Farm ice cream, in waffle cones, which is made with organic milk and the flavours are to die for! Service may be a little slower than soft serve, however, the difference in taste is very noticeable. As Daisy is a 1972 van, she is a unique addition to any party and whilst she may be a tad more expensive than a modern Mr Whippy style van, there is no comparison when it comes to making a beautiful set up for your event.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

My background is in tea rooms and retail and given a love for baking and customer service, I set up about looking for a camper van to convert and take afternoon tea to people's parties and events. I found Daisy and couldn't resist her! I am a details girl and have a great commitment to quality, as well as a passion for vintage china and re-using or re-purposing old things.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I am about to do my first Add to Event booking and am so happy with the way the platform gives exposure beyond what is able to be achieved through one's own website. People are finding Daisy, who might not have done otherwise. My about to be client has been a pleasure to communicate with, both through Add to Event and then through our emails. If I am unable to quote for booking through not being available, I always recommend my own clients to come on to the Add to Event website and ask for quotes.
