Mikes Magic has been entertaining at private functions/events/parties both in the UK and abroad for almost 21 years. What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

How many guests? The date and location. The duration of the event. Would you need extra time added for free?

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for someone with at least 10 years or more experience in performing magic for a public crowd.
Ask do they have public liability insurance (a must for performing) Ask if they perform a wide range of magic for all ages. Check reviews of past events they have performed at.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

When I started in 1999 I had already been performing for the public as a professional DJ (still am) for 18 years from the late 70s, although I was used to entertaining publically I still wanted to do that but in a different field not just music, after doing a few gigs with card, coin magic and mind reading at weddings and birthdays, I decided to do it full time, since then I have won awards in this country and performed magic in other countries over the years. I also pride myself in the customer focus of what they want from a magician at their event.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

If I had to pick just one memorable booking from this site it was a party for someone in show business, it was their 60th Birthday. I had been booked for the afternoon in a famous hotel in Liverpool up on the rooftop... I was booked for a time slot of 90 minutes. After doing this I was then asked to perform my style of magic at the customer's address later (huge house with acres of land) where he had 40 guests attending some of which were celebrities, movies actors/actresses football celebs (didn't want their photo-taking). I read minds, performed hypnosis, had one of the actors signed playing card disappear to turn up in the window of his Ferrari parked outside! I am always happy to work alongside Add to Event as they are one of the best entertainment agencies in the UK.
