What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide the best quote to a customer, we would need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, timings that they would like me to perform ( as I can normally fit 2 events in a day). From this, I can then confirm availability and give the best quote possible.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When booking a magician, you should first check to see if they have a video showreel. This is important as it would show you the style of the magician that you are booking, along with how your guest will react. The quality of the showreel normally reflects on the magician.
Secondly, check their photos. A professional magician would have a wide range of photos from different events they have been to. Make sure all of the photos are not just headshots but with actual guests they are performing to which shows they are an experienced magician.
You should also check to see if the magician is a member of The Magic Circle or a similar club as this would suggest that the magician is good and has a minimum skill level.
Regarding price, with magicians, there's normally a saying that you get what you pay for. A cheap magician may not be at the skill level you require or may just be starting out. An average price for a good quality magician would be around £375-500+ for 2 hours. However, some magicians who aren't at the skill level will still have a higher fee, this is where you would check past clients reviews from TrustPilot and also their video showreel and photos as mentioned above.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I fell in love with magic at the young age of 15. I performed at my school talent show where the reaction from the crowd was unbelievable and from there I knew this is what I wanted to do full time. I shortly then joined the Magic Circle and then started to perform all across the UK as a professional magician for Weddings, Corporate Events and Private parties. It's been 12 years since then and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've had loads of bookings come through Add to Event and all have been a great success. If I had to pick one it would have been a wedding in London where there were around 100 guests. It was a hot summer's day and I was walking around entertainment people during the drinks reception. I had great feedback from all of the guests and lots of great reactions.
