What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a quote to a customer, ideally we need:

1. Event date
2. What kind of event they are hosting
3. Estimated number of guests
4. Venue information
5. Whether it is an indoor or outdoor event
6. What kind of drinks you'd prefer

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would ask about the provider's experience. Some providers have no experience in the industry and have started their business as a career change which is totally to be respected, however, others have been in the industry their whole lives and can bring so much more experience, skill and depth of knowledge to your event. Experience is the main thing that will have an impact on the quality of the provider you book. Ask about their product range to get a sense of whether they have good connections with local suppliers, and ask about their staff too. At the end of the day, the staff are very important as you want to feel like you're in confident, friendly and professional hands.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I was a cocktail mixologist at Harvey Nichols and ran mobile bars and worked in restaurants for years. I got into marketing and worked on promotional strategies with some of the best-regarded hotels and Michelin Star restaurants in the country from Old Course Hotel and Fairmont to Isles of Eriska and Martin Wishart. I always had the desire to start my own street trading business and the opportunity arose when I saw a vintage van for sale in Devon. I flew down and bought it and started from there!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We had a wedding of 200 people at Comrie Croft which is a rustic barn conversion ran by a young couple and their farming family in rural Perthshire. The atmosphere was just amazing, there was a ceilidh band playing and we had to keep running to the shops to buy more whisky as it kept running out, lesson learned! It was exactly the kind of event we pictured doing when we first started the business.
