What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The 'rules' when asking for a quote are quite simple. Rule One is - Give us as much information as you can, and Rule Two - Refer to Rule One. Obviously the date and venue are the first priority, and then it's what times the event running together with what kind of event you are holding. The interesting part is what kind of 'vibe' are you trying to create, is it a full on party all night, a chance for old friends to catch up, or relax with a great atmosphere. This applies to all types of functions, a wedding, a birthday or a corporate event, and the entertainment style, plus the music & lighting can help create the perfect blend. What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There is no substitute for experience and that needs to be followed up with dedication. Always look for a service provider who has been there and done that many many times, but still wants to give you 100%. If they still have the passion to want to do it even better than last night - then you have found the one you are looking for and you will get the best service, On a more practical note, ask if they have insurance and all the equipment that you need, plus backups in case anything goes wrong.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Malibu Disco is really an eighties creation, but before that my passion for entertaining started at school when I used to play the music for the school parties! Once it's in your blood it never leaves so why not make it a career? Now I play at hundreds of weddings and parties and still love the buzz that comes from it.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I guess one of the most memorable events that I have played, booked through this platform was a 70th birthday party for a lady in Salisbury. I wasn't expecting much but she had also booked a rock band! and some fantastic catering (mostly cheeses!) with 50 or so crazy guests made an awesome night. She loved music from the 60's & the '70s as well as salsa, so I played some great tunes that night. Add to Event has allowed me to reach some great clients and I have encouraged plenty of other DJs to join in the fun.
