To provide a comprehensive quote, we just need to know the date and venue. From that, we can offer a basic quote and go from there.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

For events like weddings, anniversaries and adult landmark birthdays, experience is an absolute
must as your DJ will be catering for a range of ages and tastes in music and can use his expertise to keep your guests happy. Your DJ should be approachable and helpful so you are able to work together to achieve what you envisage for your particular party. For most events, your DJ should be confident using a microphone, use high quality equipment, carry full Public Liability Insurance and have an annual electrical safety test.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Having spent 12 years as a night club DJ (1978 - 1990) as a younger man, it became time to move on, offer my services for private hire and have the opportunity to play a much wider variety of music. I'm still doing what I love! As a DJ I am very friendly, relaxed and entertaining with extensive knowledge of all popular musical genres and their eras. Most of my discos, I am pleased to say, have been booked through personal recommendation. Like all mobile discos these days I have every kind of music available to play but more importantly, unlike many, I am experienced and skilful at choosing the right music to play at any particular event and always play your requests promptly! I welcome your guidance on musical genres or eras, together with any music you want me to avoid, and always actively encourage requests from everyone on the night so everyone gets a little of what they fancy!

The equipment I use includes a pro quality high fidelity sound system with co-ordinated “intelligent lighting” and a professional up-lit DJ booth (no tacky disco screens, unsightly gantries or twinkly cloth!) so you can be assured of a very smart presentation. You also have the option to swap my hi-tech modern effects for vintage psychedelic projections to create an alternative look at no extra charge. (Just ask for the "Liquid Lights" instead!). My pricing is completely transparent and fair and my terms are very simple and straightforward (no complicated one sided "contracts" with impenetrable small print).

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I am very new to this platform so I am unable to comment on it's effectiveness. However, it seems to be well set up, affordable to suppliers (so customers are more likely to receive quotes), and fuss-free which is a nice change!
