What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable us to give you a comprehensive quote, ideally, we need to know the event date, the event type, the number of guests who are attending, the venue address and the services you would like a quotation for. Once we have this we will be able to send you a quotation based on those answers.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, you should ask the supplier lots of questions. This will help you gauge what experience they have, what quality their products are and what past clients thought of them. I would suggest you ask - what quality the goods are i.e. are they fire retardant, is their draping freestanding, is their draping blackout (non-see-through), is their popcorn machine a commercial machine that is capable of producing large quantities quickly, how long have you been in business, do you have any awards for your services, where can I find testimonials of your products and services.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The story of how Busy Bee Events came about began when I was a child. I, like most kids, had lots of career aspirations which, in reality, don't usually come true, and in my case, it was to become a pop star! Throughout my childhood, though I maintained my love of music & making and designing things. I always got a great sense of satisfaction when I transformed an old dress into a new top, made my sister a birthday card, wrote a song or even baked and iced a cake for my mum. My passion for music continued and I spent most of my childhood and teenage years playing the piano, flute, recorder, singing and songwriting.

I then spent the best part of 20 years working as a PA where I learned many skills required for running your own business. I also had 5 children & spent many years furthering my education & satisfying my love of music by training to teach musical theatre, singing as well as studying French, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Floristry & Business Studies. Throughout this time my desire to work for myself and do something that other people could get pleasure from too grew even stronger.

Following a life-changing event, I was forced to make a career change and I decided to pursue my love of music by DJ’ing and so Beat-n-Bop Discos was born. Beat-n-Bop Discos was a huge success with many brides loving the idea of having a female to DJ at their wedding, The business went from strength to strength and later my husband, Mike, joined me working in the family business. We gained many awards for our disco and work continued to flood in and consequently, the business expanded rapidly too!

As we took on more and more weddings, we realised we already possessed the skills to offer many additional services that we were not currently offering and so Busy Bee Events was formed. Since then we have grown enormously as a company and we now offer what you see on our site today - a genuine 'all under one roof company'. I'm sure you've heard about or have come across lots of companies that say they are 'all under one roof' and then you later found out that one roof is actually an umbrella sheltering 1 main company who carry out some of those services & then source the others in from other companies! Unlike those companies, Busy Bee Events actually provide over 120 services ourselves, so you can be confident that you really are dealing directly with one company!

We feel extremely privileged to have a job that we love so much and we get to meet such wonderful people along the way! We use our passion and creative design for each wedding or event that we design, plan & provide services for. Our aim is simple - to turn your dreams of a beautiful wedding or event into a reality!
