Hire a Photographer in East of England

Rebecca Prigmore Photography has over 19 years experience photographing for national magazines such as Red, Glamour and Grazia, and has shot over 100 weddings. Here's Rebecca's advice on what organisers should be considering for their photographer.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to provide a customer with a quote, ideally, I'd need the date of the event or shoot, where it is, and what it is that is required. In terms of a wedding, how many guests and the length of coverage is great to know. Things like any albums that are wanted will also help too. For portraits an idea of how many people, and what sort of images you want can all help me to provide you with a realistic and suitable quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would always suggest you firstly see if you like the feeling of a photographers work. Is it the sort of photography that you hope to have for yourself? Also, looking at reviews and previous clients feedback is so important, how what the customer service and were the clients thrilled with the end result? And also so importantly do you get a good feel from the photographer in their correspondence with you? Do they seem like the kind of person you'd like to have with you on your wedding day or trust to take photos of you and your family? Trust your judgement and do your homework, and you'll pick the perfect match for you.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I've been a photographer for nearly 20 years. After finishing a degree in photography, and assisting photographer for several years, I began getting my own commissions for national magazines such as Red and Grazia. I still do editorial shoots now and enjoy the variety it brings to my work. After getting married myself, I began to also get wedding and family commissions, and in 2009 I set up Rebecca Prigmore Photography and the rest is history! Now the two sides of my business work well together and continue to keep me thinking on my feet and working in a creative way to get the best from any situation. I adore being a photographer and the people I meet, I love capturing moments, there really is no thrill better for me.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I booked a wonderful wedding from Add To Event that was a fantastic village fete themed event. Hook a duck, egg and spoon races, pretty bunting and plenty of pimms! The couple were so relaxed and fun, and the weather was wonderful for them. The local village hall was a walk from the church ceremony, and was adorned with bunting and ribbons. Emotional speeches and a ceilidh dance, finished by a hog roast and pretty festoon lighting outside. A real dream to be a part of and wonderful to photograph!
