What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

What's always helpful when receiving initial information from an organiser is as much detail as possible. For example, they are an elderly group, with traditional taste buds. Or, this is a post team building event, so sharing platters could work. If you have people within your group who have dietary requirements, be more specific than generic if need to cater for vegetarians. For example, a party of 10, of which 2 are vegetarian. This all helps when putting together our initial quote, as we only get one shot to catch your attention, and we want to get the brief right, from the offset.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If I was looking for a caterer for an event, I would like to know where the produce is coming from. Where is the cooking done from, do they hold a certificate for Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering? I would also like to know examples of similar catering jobs, for which they would be providing for me.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have worked in the industry for 25 years, and my deep passion for catering is forever evolving. I have worked in both front and back of the house, with each bringing its own unique pleasure, challenges and rewards. I felt the natural next step for me, was to launch my own private catering company. Here I can really explore my food style, and taste, and champion the wonderful produce that Sussex provides. Also putting into practice my many years of experience in the industry. I launched Plenty Catering in February 2020.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

One of the first jobs I got through Add to Event was cooking a Christmas meal in the heatwave of August 2020 with ETI Thermapen Ltd. It was an advertising campaign that they had planned, I now work for them quarterly coming up with ideas for their current, and future projects. Working with them has really highlighted to me, the way social media works, and how an online presence is essential for business. Hand on heart I can say that all my clients through Add to Event have been of a really high calibre. Polite, honest, and appreciative. Add to Event has really helped launch my business and hopefully will continue to do so.
