What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a fully comprehensive and accurate quote, we need to have a quick chat with the client. Often clients don't know what they want exactly, so a quick chat can help identify exactly what they need, this can save them time and money and make their special event a real celebration. A lot of the quote comes down to clever scheduling and impact with the music. Once we know the perimeters of an event, we can quickly suggest acts and a fee that suits them and makes them happy!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would say to ask the supplier about their range of services, but really specify the timings of your event. If your event goes on for 6 hours, it will be rare that one musician plays the whole amount, the supplier can provide a few acts, or backing music, or put a package together for you. Make sure they know what they are talking about by asking about the scheduling of your event, a good supplier will suggest a natural incline to the music, providing a great backdrop and atmosphere for your party.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Dixiebird Records when I had a traumatic voice operation in 2016 and found out I may never sing again.
I wanted to create something which would still provide the level of sophisticated acts to the industry, and I loved vintage music, so the business was born!
Fast forward 3 years, we survived the pandemic (just about) and are now one of the UK's most in-demand, high-end live music agencies. Our music boutique offers acts to clients Nationwide for Weddings, Private Events, and Corporate. Past clients include BBC, ITV, C4, Bolinger, Royal British Legion, and British Royalty.

We pride ourselves on providing a really tight end-to-end service to clients that go above and beyond most other agencies. As a singer myself, I know how important it is to look at every small detail and make sure the client's event goes off with a huge success!
My voice came back the same year, I'm now an agent and a singer, but I love the agency so much, I only really sing my original music now.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We had a great booking in 2020, in between lockdowns! It was a private event and a surprise 50th, I booked a trio and we entertained over 100 people. It was so lovely to see the smiles on everyone's faces, after so long in lockdown, we really needed that boost as well as the audience! Looking towards 2022 now, we are so excited to see lots of enquiries coming in and corporates booking galas and live music for their awards dos next year. We can't wait to get going!
