What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The essential ingredients needed for us to put together a comprehensive quote include the date, time, duration, number of guests, service style, food ideas etc. It would also be handy to know whether staff would be required. Knowing whether the client requires a kitchen and any hire equipment helps with the accuracy of the quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Speak to the provider in person. This is essential. The provider will be essential to the smooth running of your event and it is important that you feel like you can trust them and also get on with them. There are a lot of providers out there but only a few that really care and when you're looking to hire a caterer for your wedding, you need to know you're booking someone who will look after everything.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Passion. First and foremost passion! Before I started Urban Pantry Food I worked as a freelance chef and as an events manager in London for some high profile clients. You cannot be succesful in this industry without it being a hobby and something you love. This is reflected in your work. Urban Pantry Food has now been running for 6 years and we love everything from simple but tasty BBQs to 8 course tasting menu for weddings. Our aim is to speak to our clients and then design menus and their day around their thoughts and budget!
