What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Wedding photography is a minefield of confusing offers of different prices, packages and services. Never is there a truer statement than the "You get what you pay for" in any service industry. In these days of austerity a lot of amateur photographers are picking up their limited equipment and completely untrained and inexperienced setting themselves up as "wedding photographers". It's amazing that a couple spending a vast amount of money on their wedding ceremony and reception leave the recording of this wonderful day to the cheapest bidder. Reports of equipment breakdown with no backup camera...loss of images through faulty discs poorly exposed and processed images and other endless problems that destroy the day are common and the despair of the bridal party is hard to watch. We set up our business with the objective of giving the very best quality for reasonable costs.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Unusually wedding photography is not the only string we have to our bow. We started our pro careers as professional wildlife photographers. Published in UK press including the Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail and Sunday Times and also published extensively worldwide with many national and international awards and both awarded the prestigious Associateship of The Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) a qualification enjoyed by a mere 2300 photographers worldwide. Plus each has the Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB) another much sought-after qualification. With 130 plus weddings completed to date we have been able to cope with every situation you can imagine and still have 100% satisfaction from each and every client.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We used a number of platforms to acquire enquiries for our photography in the early days to mixed success. From our last three weddings alone we had an immediate booking post-wedding, another customer cancelled their existing booking with their photographer and booked us after seeing our style at the wedding they were guests at and another client has asked us to photograph them at their wedding in Greece next year. We registered with Add to Event with low expectations but we always need publicity to fill in available dates and the cost was low compared to other platforms plus there was a special offer which made it even more attractive. To our surprise we were booked for two out of the three enquiries we have received to date.
