What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable me to provide you with a comprehensive quote I would need to know the wedding date, location(s), attendance duration and an indication of any specific deliverables (USB, prints, album etc) you would expect. I take pride in offering a flexible service as every wedding is unique, so I am always ready and willing to adjust my picture taking, deliverables and services to suit my client's needs. What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Photography is very subjective, we all have our individual preferences when it comes to pictures. It's important to not only view any short-listed wedding photographer's best work but also examples of complete weddings. Most people are capable of producing a few decent images at a wedding so it is crucial to establish if they are competent in all the different facets of wedding photography. Your photographer will be a working guest at your wedding so it is also a good idea to meet them face to face before making a booking.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I discovered photography at university and fell in love. I painted in oils when younger and have always been fascinated in creating images. I was already familiar with classic composition and soon began getting request to photograph several friends weddings. A local professional photographer saw my work and asked me to work for him as an operative, which I did for several years. I look back on this time as my apprenticeship, but I soon began getting so much work that I started my own business. When I started it was all film and I had to develop my films and produce my prints in my own darkroom. Now the digital revolution has given me a level of freedom and expression I once had when painting. Wedding photography has given me the opportunity to meet some wonderful couples and their overwhelmingly positive feedback continues to fuel my passion for photographing weddings.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I'm a new recruit to Add To Event, but have already had several bookings, so I am looking forward to a fruitful partnership.
