If you want a completely unique menu for your wedding or event try Wood Fired Events who offer a bespoke experience with great food made from scratch and cooked with fire. All from a beautifully converted horse box trailer with a wood-fired oven on the back! Read about their passion for the business and tips they give for ensuring a good quote.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We try to be as flexible as possible, but to provide a quote to a customer we would need the event date, venue details with an idea of what equipment and set up they have and the number of people. This is particularly important to get right as we can provide a much cheaper 'per head' service for large groups. It is also really helpful to get an idea of what type of event they are holding. In the case of a wedding, we could be supplying very similar food but the cost would depend greatly on whether they are having a sit-down, served lunch or a festival style serve yourself.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would certainly be looking to engage the supplier into talking about their product and encourage them to come up with something bespoke for you. This should show that they are truly passionate about what they do. It is also important to know that they have experience doing this before and are therefore able to produce what is required within the timeframe.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Years of experience cooking both in the kitchens of restaurants and in the fields of festivals has led us to create Wood Fired Events, where our drive is to create food that sings, packed full of flavours but driven by simplicity, food that speaks for itself. At the centre of everything we do is our beautifully converted Horse box trailer, complete with our wood-fired oven. We love the unpredictability of cooking on fire, it's intoxicating, it limits your control but forces you to be more involved with the process, to read the elements. Cooking in a wood-fired oven brings wonderful layers of flavour and we love it all, from the charred edges and smokey depths to the fact that you are forced to give ingredients a little more time.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have had a few bookings through Add to Event and on the whole, have found it to be a really useful way of advertising and promoting ourselves and getting connected to people looking for catering in our area. We were lucky enough to be chosen to provide the afternoon and evening food for a lovely couple called Emily & Alex. They had really high expectations and we wrote them a bespoke menu that complemented the season and their tastes. The feedback we received knocked us off our feet, it is such a pleasure to have the chance to be part of a couple's special day. I have recommended Add to Event to a few catering friends and I think the platform is improving quickly. It is important to set up your requirements properly so that the suggestions and connections are relevant.
