What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote we require some straightforward information regarding the location of the event, the occasion, the preferred type of cuisine & number of courses. From this we can draw up some samples menus with various pricing options. We like to give our clientele a choice of products so they can find the one that will suit their event perfectly.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
For a customer looking to hire a provider in our area of work, I would suggest them to take a look at previous customer reviews. I also find social media an effective method to gather information on a provider as you should be able to see their products and work through photos and updates as well as customer comments. Lastly, a visit in person to the provider would be highly recommended especially when planning larger events
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Turnip The Beet was created out of pure passion and interest for good food. I could see a gap in the catering market for providing something out of the ordinary that incorporates dishes from all over the world and takes on current food trends. Food is such a big part of making events memorable and even has the power to take an event to the next level. This is how we look at it. We don't work from fixed menus, this enables us to tailor the food we provide specifically to the event as well as offering something unique and memorable as well as delicious!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Recently we took on a corporate dinner for a group of 120+ guests that had travelled all the way from Iceland! The event was very bespoke and we really wanted to add some traditional Scottish culture to their experience so we sent them to a distillery for a little tour and whisky tasting before they arrived at the venue, followed by a gin & tonic reception with canapes whilst enjoying stunning views of Loch Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. For the evening meal, we led them into the main dining hall that was decorated with festoon lighting, church candles & autumnal floral decorations. The group enjoyed a 3-course meal of delicately plated modern cuisine with traditional flavours throughout. They were absolutely delighted with everything we had done to make their event special and memorable. I have recommended Add to Event to fellow chefs and caterers, I think it is a great way for both the client and the provider to find what they are looking for.
