What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For the most accurate quote, we firstly need to know the estimated number of guests, and whether they will be paying themselves or if we are charging for the event up-front and providing guests with complimentary drinks. Your venue is of interest to us, but is the least important aspect as we will serve pretty well anywhere there is space for our pop-up coffee bar! We can only use our pop-up bar outside, preferably where we have vehicle access for loading etc, but we can also offer an indoor solution if required - just let us know.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Well, unfortunately there is a lot of (at best) average and often even terrible coffee out there - not only in mobile bars but even on the high street. If suppliers talk more about things other than the coffee, that's got to be a warning sign. What coffee beans do they use? Where and how is the coffee sourced? What coffee training / experience do they have? How long will they continue to serve the coffee which has been sitting in their grinder? How often to they clean their espresso machine - and how do they do this? It is actually quite simple to serve great coffee, but it is equally easy to do it badly if you are not passionate about it.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Bamboo Coffee was created because we worked on a vintage coffee van for a number of years, which was owned by someone else, and it became so popular, they sold it to one of their customers ! We scoured the marketplace looking for something new but sustainable (without being silly about it) and having looked at everything from vans, horse boxes, gazebos, pallets and more, bamboo seemed an obvious material of choice - sustainable, easy to work with and lightweight yet super strong.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have attended mostly weddings as a result of our Add to Event listing. Our first was for around 200 people in Surrey, soon followed by a "high society" wedding just outside London, where we served Lords and Ladies, Barons and commoners! Thankfully everyone was impressed with the coffee, and with our approach. We even stayed overnight so we could serve up morning coffee to the guests that stayed over, so this was our longest wedding so far, at just over 14 hours on site - but what a great weekend it was. We also secured an event to be on a film set, serving coffee to the extras during breaks and being in the background during actual filming - another long weekend and we were actually in the film for a full 3 seconds !! The Add to Event platform is easy to set up, easy to manage and continually provides opportunities for more work - we wouldn't be without it!
