The Great British Chip Shop is a food caterer that provides the traditional fish and chips with a twist, loaded fries and more across Merseyside and beyond. They cater for a wide range of events, both private and corporate.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Every celebration or event we do is totally different from the last one, however the questions we ask always remain the same! To give a comprehensive quote to a client we need certain information like what is the type of celebration/ event day/date, location, how many guests, any dietary requirements, how long do you require us, is it a formal or informal service, can our food truck fit, is there any power/ electricity available. After gathering all this information then we are able to give the client suitable responses drawing on our experience and expertise and tailor a suitable quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We would advise potential clients to research what service they require and then check out fish and chip vans in their area and outside the area, then shortlist three providers( two local /one outside of the local area) and ask for menu suggestions and no-obligation quotes from the three providers shortlisted. Always ask to see before finally booking, the service providers certification such as public liability, product liability, environmental health ratings, gas and electrical safety certification.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Having worked in the catering industry for over 30 years being a qualified chef in hotels & restaurants, I have lost count on the number of wedding breakfasts/evening celebrations /private parties/ private dining I have done over the decades. Hospitality is second nature to us at the Great British Chip Shop, we understand from experience and can pre-empt our clients needs, especially on the day when things do change and move. The last decade I have toured the world several times over cooking for world-famous recording artists/management teams/crews when out on the road. When you work at this high standard and the schedule of moving around everywhere over the world all the time, logistical requirements become second nature. All these skills have transferred over into putting together the Great British Chip Shop menus, output capabilities and logistical needs and help us act quickly and preemptively in situations that happen unexpectedly!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

At the moment we are quite new to Add to Event, however, we have been successful in securing a few clients via the platform. We had a lovely beautiful sunny day in Leeds doing a birthday/christening celebration for a lovely couple and their family & friends in the surrounds of a beautiful cricket club. We also attended an end of school party for teachers! Schools out for summer! it was a retirement party for two well respected and long-term teachers at the school. We really enjoyed helping them celebrate the recognition of such an achievement. There were lots of giggles, laughs, singers and love at the party. It was very enjoyable indeed.
