Hog Roasts in Cambridgeshire

Homegrownandraised is a family-run farm that provide Hog Roasts, sausages, beef, lamb and turkey for weddings and corporate functions. They also use farm animals for educational trips, parties and fetes within Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the customer name, date of event, place of event, time of event, a brief description of the event and any other relevant information (ie. surprise party), the estimated number of guests and whether they have particular dietary requests. If any side salads or deserts are required. Whether it is an indoor or outdoor event and whether electricity and water are available.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the caterer about the product they are offering, whether it has been prepared by themselves or bought in. How far they are travelling? If they have sufficient Public Liability Insurance. How many of these events have they done before and how many staff will they be sending.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Homegrownandraised was started to show our daughter where her food came from. We purchased a few pigs from a local market, raising them in the back garden for meat to make sausages and bacon. From there we rented some land, purchased a whole farm yard of animals and now cater for Hog Roasts and teach children, both SEN and mainstream all about our animals and their food from our Mobile Farm Experiences.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

There have been lots of events through this platform that we are proud of. Many weddings, a few christenings and many birthday and anniversary surprises. I think the best may have been a wedding, in the middle of a field with teepees, a vintage ice cream bicycle, vintage fish & chip wagon and us. The atmosphere was electric, the music fantastic and the hospitality from the event organisers amazing. It makes our life so much easier to work with clients that know what they want from the start and can pull off an amazing event. We fed 200 people and the clients were very happy. We had lots of lovely comments about the taste of our free range homegrown meat. Add to Event is helping us promote our products.
