What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a potential customer, ideally, we need the event date, an explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests and details about the venue. It would also be helpful if we were provided with details about vehicular access to the venue and whether the venue is indoor or outdoor. In addition, details about what sort of drinks package they might be looking towards, for example, do they need plenty of draught options, or, perhaps, they need a specifically focussed bar offering just gin and Prosecco. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a personalised quote that is tailored to their specific event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the provider about their setup and what they can and can’t provide. For example, many providers are not able to draught lager and ales, however, a good personalised draught option is a priority of ours. Secondly, I would recommend asking about a supplier's credentials and licensing. It’s very important to us at Cellar Door that our staff are all properly trained and that we have the required licensing and accreditations. Thirdly, be detailed and specific. I know this takes a little longer. However, the benefits are so much more increased as the suppliers that care will tailor their quotes to your specific requirements.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Cellar Door Bars was born out of a passion for working in the event industry coupled with a passion for good ale, cocktails and drinks in general. Between us, we have over 60 years experience working in the live events industry and have always wanted to pursue something of our own - the idea for Cellar Door was born and cultivated while visiting some amazing wineries in the Hunter Valley region of Australia. Our drive and passion is to provide truly bespoke drinks packages for any event we do and we aim to make every event we attend special for those whom we are fortunate to call customers.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had some amazing bookings through Add to Event - so many, it’s difficult to pick just one. However, perhaps the Pride festival we attended in Marsden just pips all the others. It was just an amazing day. We had so many lively comments about how cold the draught beer was, how gorgeous the cocktails were and how great the staff and the trailer looked in the setting. We even picked up 2 other jobs on the back of this event. Successful all around. Add to Event has been a fabulous addition to help grow our business.
