What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to able to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally I would need to know the event date, start time, how long the service is required, potential venue address, a brief explanation of the type of event, the estimated number of guests and the desired budget. From this information, I will be able to give a suitable and accurate quote. I feel it's always better to try and give a quote for the first message sent.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would try and get as much information as possible when contacting a provider and to leave no stone unturned. It's important not to get hit with any hidden fee further down the line. As a customer, a few things I would ask a DJ is their payment terms, whether they require a deposit to secure the date or have it all paid on the day etc. How they would want paying, ie cash/ bank transfer/ invoiced etc. If there is electrical equipment being used, make sure it is PAT tested and is safe! On top of that, I consider it a must for the DJ/ company to have public liability insurance in case anything was to happen.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started my business and went down the route of DJing due to my dad being a DJ. My parents always encouraged me to have something to fall back on outside of a full-time job. Although there is a lot of sacrifice to DJing in regards to having to work unsociable hours, I definitely consider it a fun job to do. It is still work and I understand I have to remain professional at all times, but I do enjoy it :)

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

The bookings I've had through ADD TO EVENT have been enjoyable ones. I can certainly say I've won work which I wouldn't have won without venturing onto this site. I'm still relatively new to the site as I only joined earlier this year but I'm slowly getting used to using it as the year goes on. It's good to be able to cherry-pick particular bookings if you wanted to just go for Weddings or just want to see potential bookings within a specific radius to where you live and didn't want to travel far. I'm definitely going to keep using the site for the foreseeable :)
