What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, the potential venue, and whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together various menu options and equipment list for the event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We would advise the customer to look into the company they are looking to work with i.e. testimonials - not just on their own websites but from other media sources such as social media, personal references etc. Ask about the legal requirements such as health and hygiene certifications, public liability and "scores on the doors" rating. Finally ask to meet up with the company as meeting people face to face can give a very clear indication about how they work and practice their business.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
RJS Catering started from my (now husband) making my buffet for my 30th birthday. A family member said to us "you should do this as a business". Richard was a kitchen manager and I was an accountant at the time and we started thinking about the idea. We started off very slowly and then I was made redundant from my office job, which gave us time to work on RJS Catering. Then, over the following 3 years, we built up the business (whilst also getting married and having a little boy!) and both started working full time on RJS Catering. We have now been in business for 9 years and have built up a very successful business slowly and carefully so now we run small family events right through to large weddings and gala events and work with some fantastic businesses within the area to enhance our portfolio.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We started using Add to Event a couple of years ago and they and we have grown so much over those years. We have had some amazing events through Add to Event as well as customers who have used us on more than one occasion and continue to recommend us to others. The one event that stands out for me is a street food event we did for over 800 people in a hotel in Birmingham for Thompson reps!! Just the thought of that many reps in one place made us smile! The event was a massive success and everyone had an amazing time!! We really appreciate the work that Add to Event do and we will continue to recommend this site to others.
