What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally I'd need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the potential venue - whether it's an indoor or outdoor event and how many hours they require me on site. Further to that, a turn around time for the final delivery of photographs and/or video also helps me to lock days off to edit. From this, I can use my experience and expertise to put together a suitable quote for the customer.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, research quotes to better understand the go-to rate for a photographer and/videographer in London. There are many sites that offer guidance to freelance rates. That way, when quoted, they aren't taken aback and instead be more understanding. Photography/Videography quotes cover a few things: equipment, travel, insurance, time on site and edit time - which is the most time-consuming. But also be very open with the provider about what it is you want, and your budget. Most of the time photographers and videographers are open to adjusting their rate especially if their schedule allows for it. Finding out about experience is also ideal, so please do ask about their experience in the field you are asking them to cover.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I personally have over 26 years of experience in TV and Film. My experience hails from mainly being in front of the camera, but I did start working in TV Production (as a production manager, scriptwriter, then producer and director) by the age of 19. I studied analogue photography after graduating from high school and did photography on the side, whilst continuing on with the TV career. I photographed my first wedding when I was 24 years old.

I became a videographer short 4 years ago when I moved to London. With a passion for filmmaking (inclusive of photography), I decided to venture out into this field and I've loved every minute of it. I started out in London doing property/interior photography which then lead to videography in the same field. Added in here is also event photography and videography. I then did social media online videos for small companies and brands (including BstLfe for Calum Best). I've now moved onto Wedding Videography and Indie Music Videos.

This industry is saturated, but what I have that most don't have is 26 years of experience both onscreen and off. I wanted to continue creating and bringing others stories and moment to life without charging them a ridiculous amount, but good enough of my experience and time.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I'm new to Add to Event, so bagging my first booking was amazing. I was booked as an event photographer and videographer for an event in The City. As tough as it is being a two in one, I'm beyond thrilled to have gotten this opportunity through Add to Event and I am so ready for more and more to come in. The client was super happy with me and delighted to have gotten someone literally three days before their event - especially because they are a Danish company. It was a small dinner event of about 30 people - guess I was lucky there seeing as though I needed to perform two roles. But, I nailed it!
